RocketBots
RocketBots is a competitive multiplayer first-person shooter. The game utilizes various mechanics to create an experience focused around situational awareness and fast-paced, smooth movement through the world. Zooming rockets, epic explosions! Last bot standing wins.
The project was developed over the course of a single semester (with additional work ongoing) as a solo student project, while attending DigiPen Institute of Technology. Everything was developed by me, either inside Unity or utilizing external tools, such as Maya. Sounds were initially gathered from a DigiPen-owned library, before being modified significantly. Aside from Xinput, no external assets or plugins were used.
(Solo Project)
-
Implemented game features, writing all code from scratch in C# and utilizing Unity's component-based approach to development.
-
Rapidly prototyped mechanics, playtesting them to ensure they fit with the overall game system.
-
Refined mechanics, reviewing and analyzing playtesting data to iterate on and improve gameplay.
-
Worked to develop a low-budget solution to art and animation, ensuring the aesthetic did not detract from gameplay.
-
Wrote editor tools and systems including an event system, input system, and component-based animation tool.
-
Generated solutions for player feedback and refined the feel of the game as a whole.
